After a long, grueling off-season, the Soniqs Rocket League team had quite a bit of work to do to get back into RLCS form. Questionable results and some struggles plagued their time since finishing 3rd place in RLCS just the season prior, but hope was not lost. In replacement for Dappur, the Soniqs decided to sign JRuss, a young, mechanical prospect, to their starting roster. Not only did JRuss seem to be a nice fit that meshed well with the team, but he also brought a high level of play to the table that was much needed on the roster. His flashy mechanics and the ability to make a strong solo play from anywhere on the field was exactly what the team needed to have confidence going into the next season of RLCS.
